This pack contains revamped versions of both Eric Liebmann & Jeff Berry's Fredericksburg and Troy Sim's Fredericksburg, for SMA. Zips required are: Antietam_Beta_Patch.zip RoadsStreamsBridgesStuff.zip FredericksburgSMAv2.zip FredericksburgSMAv2Supplement.zip To install: (unless you are short of hard disk space) make a copy of your Antietam folder and rename it as FredericksburgSMA. Unzip the files in the order above into the FredericksburgSMA folder with "Use Folder Names" and "Overwrite Existing Files" checked. Say "yes" if asked to overwrite any read only files. If your operating system is using the default of "hide common extensions" you will not see ".exe" etc. If using XP or later, right click on antietam.exe and set the properties to Win98 compatibility. Make a shortcut on the desktop by right clicking on antietam.exe, "send to" then "Desktop (create shortcut)". Eric Liebmann & Jeff Berry's Fredericksburg is campaign 45. Troy Sim's Fredericksburg is campaign 21. You can either edit antietam.ini to change the campaign number or cut and paste an antietam.ini from within the ini folder to the FredericksburgSMA folder. Each ini file contains the map sizes for both versions so the campaign number is the only change needed. Play only scenarios marked "21" when 21 is the campaign number in antietam.ini. Play only scenarios marked "45" when 45 is the campaign number in antietam.ini. There is an alternate terrain file for campaign 21 that makes bridge crossing easier but does not look as good. Copy & paste it from the alternate21terrain sub folder to the FredericksburgSMA folder to use it. When you have had enough FredericksburgSMA, delete the FredericksburgSMA folder & shortcut, no need to restore. _________________________________________________________________________________ Using the antietam beta patch allows for more road/rail & wall types. The specific buildings for "Brompton", "Chatham", Steven's house & others are by RVinceD. Innis house is by Graeme Cook. There are other new buildings & houses. A full set of doubled infantry graphics are included - the artists are noted in the graphic files. The Confederate Blue cavalry is by Eric Norris & Jeroen Hill, the dark blue USA cavalry is by Michael Neal. The generals are by Eric Norris. The flags are by Michael Neal. The 2-culvert bridge graphics has been completed. There are new opening screens and a scenario list map. Battle info has been added from Wikipedia. Portraits have been added. The scenarios are mostly unchanged. In campaign 45 Sweitzer, Stockton & the sharpshooters had the same ID numbers in scenarios as the SMG version but different IDs in the SMA OBU. The .scn files have been corrected. The artillery numbers & types have been edited & the amount of union artillery on the Fredericksburg side of the river in campaign 21 has been reduced. See the ModInfo folder for some reference material. The map scale of campaign 45 is too large and does not cover the southern area of fighting. The streams are not in the right places. Campaign 21 has terrain that better corresponds to the southern area of the battle. Graeme The Supplement adds scenario info text & graphics & redone info & on-map portraits. see also http://smx.iblogger.org/SMG.htm ***************************************************** Original but edited ReadMe for campaign 21: Several notes pertaining to the Battle of Fredericksburg. 1. Although this battle comes with scenarios and OOBs, the Confederate OOB is different from that used in campaign 45, but the only difference is in artillery numbering, the sharpshooters are attached to Sweitzer, and some commander ratings. The Union OOB is exactly the same as for campaign 45. 2. [I made the Rappahannock River into a swamp because the game would "freeze" and become inoperable whenever the Rappahannock is made into a River or an Impassable River.] -no longer relevant. 3. [I made the sunken road/stone wall out of sunken road, woods, and boulders. I reasoned, by adding trees and boulders, it would provide relatively the same protection that a "stone wall" would.] -no longer relevant. 4. There are two scenarios. The engagement over the Sunken Road and the engagement over Jackson/Prospect Hill. This is because the Antietam engine is unable to accommodate nearly 200,000 men. 5. The antietam.ini is needed in order for the Fredericksburg map to work because the Fredericksburg map is larger than the Antietam map. That's it. Have fun.
