This pack contains a new version of Quebec, for SMA. There are 9 scenarios covering 1759, 1760, 1775 & 1776. Zips required are: Antietam_Beta_Patch.zip Sounds_For_Non_ACW_SMx.zip SMAwithNewPalette.zip QuebecSMAv1.zip To install: (unless you are short of hard disk space) make a copy of your Antietam folder and rename it as QuebecSMA. Unzip the files in the order above into the QuebecSMA folder with "Use Folder Names" and "Overwrite Existing Files" checked. Answer "yes" if asked to overwrite any read only files. If your operating system is using the default of "hide common extensions" you will not see ".exe" etc. If using XP or later, right click on antietam.exe and set the properties to Win98 compatibility. Make a shortcut on the desktop by right clicking on antietam.exe, "send to" then "Desktop (create shortcut)". Quebec 1759 is campaign 63. Sainte Foy 1760 is campaign 64. Quebec 1775/1776 is campaign 65. There is an antietam.ini with campaign=63 in the main folder so you can start with the 1759 scenarios. Then copy the contents of the 'Winter' subfolder to the main QuebecSMA folder overwriting files. This includes an antietam.ini with campaign=64. Play the 1760 scenarios with this. Then copy the contents of the '1775' subfolder (including the 'Sounds' subfolder) to the main QuebecSMA folder overwriting files. This includes an antietam.ini with campaign=65. Play the 1775 & 1776 scenarios with this. There are separate OoB files for each campaign number. They only differ in the order that troops are listed so that troops for that campaign are listed first. This means that random battles are more likely to use the corresponding troops. If you wish to restrict a scenario to, say, French with no Americans - you can edit the OoB to delete American troops. You can either edit antietam.ini (with notepad) to change the campaign number or cut and paste an antietam.ini from a sub folder as you wish. All the scenarios will work, but: some fortifications may change; a pontoon bridge may appear; there are more houses & less forest in 1775. Each ini file contains the map sizes for all versions so the campaign number is the only change needed. To get back to the Summer terrain, unzip QuebecSMAv1.zip again. When you have had enough QuebecSMA, delete the QuebecSMA folder & shortcut, no need to restore. _________________________________________________________________________________ Using the Antietam Beta Patch allows a different sized map and more road & wall types. There are new buildings & houses. Winter terrain. A full set of revised doubled infantry graphics are included. There are new opening screens and a scenario list map. Battle info & maps have been added. There are battle history files. Instead of photos of the battlefield from 6 to 8 directions there are 6 to 8 pictures of uniforms or buildings or battle paintings to scroll through. On-map & info portraits have been added. The map scale is a lot smaller than usual. This allows some room for moving between the city walls (and the invisible river that makes them uncrossable) and the rivers. The "Fight the Battle" scenario is a copy of the "Plains of Abraham" scenario. Some of the on-map graphics use different colours in the palette than standard SMA so SMAwithNewPalette.zip supplies compatible standard graphics. The Info screens use a new palette. The named locations for 1759 include many French names, for 1760 there are more in English but for 1775 French names are used again. If you wish to use an undamaged Summer version of the ruined building, there is a version in the ModInfo folder along with the animated fountain that appeared in the preview version.
