SID MEIER'S ANTIETAM SCENARIO CREATION GUIDE - By: Eric Liebmann and Jeroen Hill --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This guide takes you right through the details of creating a scenario manually (without an editor) which is more effective. Open up Notepad (Start, Programs, Accessories, Notepad) Go to your SMA directory, copy the files antie25.sci and antie25.scn and rename them antie50.sci and antie50.scn For you next scenarios work your way up in number, antie51.sci etc. The files Antie25 through 49 are Antietam's scenario files. The files AntieBattle01 though 06 are Fight the Battle scenarios. Name your next Fight the Battle 07 if thats what you wish to create. But right now we're looking at scenarios so, lets drag your newly named scenario of antie50.scn into the notepad (.sci files are for the info in the scenario options menu only) I usually do not bother with them unless you are creating another battle (eg. Shiloh) So you got antie50.scn in the notepad, lets take a look. The part in brackets is what I am explaining; SECTION 1 - Main Scenerio Information ------------------------------------- (Prelude to Battle) Delete this and rename it what you would like your scenario called (-)24Z3,Hist Tells the game it is a scenario information line -(2)4Z3,Hist The attacker of the scenario 0 - Union 1 - Confederate 2 - Meeting -2(4)Z3,Hist This was used for the direction of the attack in SMG but is not used in SMA -24(Z3),Hist The Main Victory Place code; codes can be found in the names.txt file -24Z3,(Hist) The type of fight Hist - Historical Spec - Speculative Multi - Multiplayer (-Skirmish in the East Woods -Battle Length: Approximately 20 minutess) Brief scenario overview; rename it and put yours in remember to keep the -'s (-French -French -German -German) For German and French version scenario overviews; you can copy the English here or a translation (17.30,16,9,1862,) 17.52,16,9,1862,x, English 1 French 1 German 1 The starting time of your scenario Time on 24 hour clock, day, month, year 17.30,16,9,1862, (17.52,16,9,1862,x,) English 1 French 1 German 1 The ending time of your scenario Time on 24 hour clock, day, month, year 17.30,16,9,1862, 17.52,16,9,1862,x, (English 1 French 1 German 1) Variant name: 1st line English, "Historical", "Troops Arrive Early", "Troops Arrive Late", etc 2nd and 3rd lines are the French and German. (Eg. the scenario reads 155 as Reilly's battery, but for your reference after the unit code line you put a * and then a written reference for yourself like the one above which tells the creator it's Reilly's battery) ** If you want to change the name of a unit for a particular scenario to one not in the OOB, you can delete the * and put in your own name eg. c 155, 25.00,27.00, l,02,100,x,17.30,00,h, 0,00,00,My Battery and in the game it would show up as "My Battery" not "Reilly" ** *** REFERENCE NOTES - If you want to use a single regiment and not a whole brigade *** This was taken from the confederate order of battle file (obc.txt); 111,C,30,Kershaw,E,"SC Brigade" McLaws' Division 111,i,253,2nd SC,S,x,2nd Palmetto Rgt, 111,i,317,7th/8th SC,S,N1,"Joe Johnston Rifs"(7/Co H), 111,i,266,3rd SC,S,x,"Pickens Gds"(Co C), Here are the codes you would use for each unit when you are placing units; c 111, 25.00,27.00, l,02,100,x,17.30,00,h, 0,00,00,* KERSHAW ^^^ 111 - Kershaw's whole brigade a111 - Kershaw the commander himself b111 - 2nd SC c111 - 7th/8th SC d111 - 3rd SC So if I wanted to put only the 3rd SC themselves in my scenario I would use the following; c d111, 25.00,27.00, l,02,100,x,17.30,00,h, 0,00,00,*3rd SC ^^^^ SECTION 3 - Victory Sites -------------------------- (+)cM 2,x,24,24,*East Woods Any line with a + to begin it means it represents a victory site +(c)M 2,x,24,24,*East Woods Who controls the victory site at the start of the scenario c - Confederate u - Union - Uncontrolled (Must be a blank space to represent uncontrolled victory site) +c(M) 2,x,24,24,*East Woods The code of the victory site Codes can be found in the names.txt file +cM (2),x,24,24,*East Woods How many victory points the victory site is worth x100 eg. 2 = 200 5 = 500 +cM 2,(x),24,24,*East Woods Victory site is present in all levels of difficulty. 1 character is added for each variant. +cM 2,x,(24,24),*East Woods The victory site map coordinates.
